News Around The District

Rotary Youth Exchange has started running again after a few years of country shutdowns and DE certificating our District and the recertifying our district.  Virginia Craig is our District Chair.  She has two students going out this coming Fall; one is going to Japan and the other to Taiwan.  As the name implies - exchange - Virginia needs to find two Host Clubs in our district and host families within the club.  Both of the students from the respective countries have a good command of English.

On Friday, 8 May 2026, The Rotary Club of Flatonia and the Junior Class at Flatonia High School, who are taking U.S. History, spent a full day of touring and entertainment at The National Mounted Warrior Museum, located near Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The morning began with guided tours and interactive stations by Fort Hood servicemen and museum docents, learning about the Army’s mounted cavalry from horses to motorcycles to tanks to helicopters.

Georgetown Rotary members once again partnered with the Texas Ramp Project on May 2nd to help improve accessibility and independence for a local resident in Taylor through the construction of a wheelchair ramp. The 20-foot ramp build was led, as always, by Rotarian Larry Baird, who has been a member of the Georgetown Rotary Club for nearly 20 years and joined the Texas Ramp Project in 2012. Larry also serves as the Williamson County Project Coordinator for the organization and has helped lead countless ramp builds throughout the area over the years.

The Austin Rotary Club Foundation proudly awarded $96,500 in scholarships to Austin-area students through its annual scholarship program, continuing a longstanding tradition of investing in education, leadership, and the future of Central Texas. This year, 20 scholarships were awarded to students pursuing universities, community colleges, technical programs, and nursing pathways, with recipients representing a wide range of career goals including healthcare, engineering, education, entrepreneurship, and public service.
