The Rotary Club of Temple is turning a night of fun and fellowship into meaningful support for the Temple community. Following its most recent Killer Dueling Pianos fundraiser, the Rotary Club of Temple had the honor of presenting $9,000 donation checks to two local organizations—Amy’s House Temple and Families in Crisis.
The planning and promoting have brought us to this moment. On Saturday, October 24, at 10:00 a.m., Rotarians, families, friends, and community members across District 5870 will step out together for the World's Largest Polio Walk. Some will walk with their own clubs. Some will join neighboring clubs. Others will gather at the District 5870 Walk at Lake Pflugerville. The locations and distances may be different, but at 10:00 a.m. we walk together with one purpose—to help end polio.
October 24 is World Polio Day—and Rotary clubs across the district are stepping up to help end polio. This year, clubs are organizing Club Polio Walks in communities throughout the district, bringing Rotarians, families, friends and community members together for one shared goal: a world without polio.
The Rotary Club of Flatonia continued its commitment to Service Above Self on Monday, August 31, with a donation of school supplies to the local elementary school. Rotarians delivered much-needed supplies, including paper towels and 1-inch binders, to help support students and teachers as they begin the new school year.
On September 3, the Lakeway Rotary Club presented a $50,000 donation to TexARTS, a nonprofit theater and arts academy dedicated to enriching the community through the arts. This generous contribution will help support TexARTS and its mission to provide opportunities for people of all ages to experience, learn, and participate in the performing arts.

No big hoopla, but a relaxing vacation weekend away at a quality Austin hotel. Officers at Fort Hood Army base in Killeen select an enlisted soldier, and Rotary provides the fun from there. Two Austin NxNE Rotary members recently returned from a trip to the Philippines, where they helped deliver microscopes and other essential school supplies to elementary schools. The supplies were purchased with funds raised by Austin NxNE Rotarians through the club’s Sunshine Basket.
The Rotary Club of Georgetown Foundation recently awarded four mini grants that will support a variety of important community projects.
Annunciation Maternity Home will purchase furnishings to provide a safe and welcoming environment for mothers and their children, the Boys & Girls Club will support its BookSmartz reading recovery program for children ages 6–8, GCCMA will provide backpacks and school supplies to local students, while the Williamson Museum will develop Industrial Revolution and Conservation Traveling Trunks that bring hands-on Texas history into area classrooms!
The Killeen Heights Rotary Club recently joined volunteers with Sleep in Heavenly Peace for a busy weekend of building beds for local children and families in need. By the end of the weekend, volunteers had completed 10 beds, including a larger build for one Temple family that included three bunk beds and two single beds.
The Rotary E-Club of Central Texas is filled with immense pride as we celebrate a monumental milestone for two of our own. Joan and Kent Bohls are being officially inducted into the prestigious Arch Klumph Society of Rotary International. This is one of the highest honors in the Rotary world, representing a profound, lifelong commitment to global humanitarian service.
District Public Image Chair Kim Kankel had the pleasure of presenting the 2025–2026 Public Image Rockstar banner to Rotary Club of South Austin 2025–2026 President Lisa Killough, Amber Scarborough, and Pam Blankenzee. And they have plenty to celebrate! The Rotary Club of South Austin successfully completed every level of Rotary District 5870’s Public Image Challenge, earning the title of Public Image Rockstar.
Caldwell Rotary Club members recently enjoyed a fun and engaging September meeting centered around a lively game of “How Well Do You Know Rotary?” Led by Rotary Club President Betsy Wellhausen, members tested their knowledge of Rotary’s history, traditions, programs and mission. The friendly competition included prizes, plenty of laughter and an opportunity for members to learn more about the organization they proudly serve.
Bastrop Rotary provided beds for 18 more area kids on Saturday, Sept. 26. Four crews of some 15 Rotarians and friends covered homes from all over Bastrop County, constructing beds for kids who had no bed of their own. Bed linens, pillows, and a Rotary blanket completed the new beds. Rotary Club of the Austin University Area donated funds ($2,000) for the linens, and Club President, Stephen Niemeyer, came out to Bastrop to help with the deliveries & setups.

The vision of an enduring endowment dates to 1917, when Past Rotary President Arch Klumph encouraged the establishment of an endowment fund to guarantee that future generations of Rotarians would have the resources needed to solve pressing global challenges.
The Rotary Club of Austin-Southwest accepted an invitation from the Rotary Club of Austin to help staff an information booth on Rotary at the September 27 “Fiesta” event at the Emma Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center near downtown Austin.
Amidst the music, tribal dances, food vendors, face painters and artists’ booths, the information table helped share Rotary in Austin and its associated service opportunities with attendees as they enjoyed a leisurely, fun afternoon.

Last weekend, Lakeway Rotarians came out in force at the Pecan Street Festival to sell tickets for our annual Car Raffle, our club’s main fundraiser of the year! Despite the Texas heat, our dedicated Rotarians were out in the community, meeting festival-goers, selling raffle tickets, and staying hydrated with plenty of water. It was a great opportunity to connect with our community while supporting Rotary’s mission of service.
