On October 24, Rotarians across Rotary District 5870 joined hundreds of clubs throughout Zones 25B and 29 for the World’s Largest Polio Walk in recognition of World Polio Day.
From Lake Pflugerville and Georgetown to Flatonia, Marble Falls, Waco, Corsicana, and other communities throughout Central Texas, Rotary clubs brought members, families, friends, and community supporters together for one important mission: to End Polio Now!
Each walk represented more than miles traveled. It was an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage community involvement, and generate support for Rotary’s global effort to protect children from this preventable disease.
Local Action, Global Impact
District 5870’s participation contributed to an extraordinary regional effort. Across 16 districts, 444 Rotary clubs, and seven states, Rotarians came together with a shared goal of raising awareness and funds for polio eradication.
Together, the Zones are on track to raise more than $1.2 million for the fight against polio. Through Rotary’s partnership with the Gates Foundation, eligible contributions are matched 2-to-1, helping multiply the impact of donations.
Every Step Brings Us Closer
Rotary’s commitment to eradicating polio demonstrates the power of people working together to create lasting change. District 5870 is proud to stand alongside Rotary members around the world who continue to make this vision a reality.
Thank you to every club, walker, volunteer, donor, and community supporter who participated. Every step and every contribution helps bring us closer to a world free from polio.
