June is here, summer is in full swing and that means that we are entering our final month of the Rotary year. This will be my last monthly message and I want you to know what a joy it has been to serve as your District Governor.

Rotarians, your District Membership Team wants to thank you all for your efforts to Grow Rotary this year.  At this point we show a positive growth, which is great, but we must be ever vigilant in our efforts until the end of this Rotary year.  Some clubs “purge” their rolls before the end of the year so we must continue to look for new Rotarians and keep the Rotarians we have.

Save the date of Saturday, August 26 for Rotary Foundation Training both in-person and on Zoom. Training focus will be "Deep Dive into the workings of the Rotary Foundation". Open to all Rotarians, particular emphasis on Club Foundation Chairs and Club Presidents.

Congratulations to the Northwest Austin Rotary Club, who surpassed $1,000,000 in giving to the Rotary Foundation this year under the leadership of Debbie Tam!

On Tuesday, 10 May 2023, Rotary Club of Flatonia organized and arranged for the Junior High School class at Flatonia High School to travel to Corpus Christi Texas to tour the USS Lexington Museum.

As part of our annual efforts to promote education, the CAldwell Rotary Club awarded scholarships to CAldwell and Snook High Schools in May.

 

Of all the members West Austin Rotary has added this year (5 to be exact!), all have seen the value of becoming PHFs and three are now official! They are 100% behind the Service Above Self motto and are quickly on their way to being true Rotarians! We are so fortunate to have added such quality to our already amazing Club!

The Rotary Club of Austin awarded a Paul Harris Fellow to the incredible librarian at Pecan Springs for the legacies she is leaving behind with those students through her love for books, storytelling, and special literacy events. We wish her well in her next adventure and hope she knows she was a great asset to one of ROTARY’s major goals- literacy! 

The Rotary Club of Austin hosted a military family from Ft. Cavazoa over the Memorial Day weekend to thank them for his service.

The Rotary Club of Austin sponsored an Interact club of thirty six graders at Lively Middle School in Austin. After some of the students visited our Rotary meeting they decided to volunteer for a gardening project at Community First run by Mobile Loaves & Fishes.

The Rotary Club of South Austin installed its Free Mini-Library and the Rotary Bench at the Sunset Valley Elementary School located near Tony Berger Center. They also planted a tree.

The Rotary Club of Marlin is pleased to announce that John “Brad” Tarver has been inducted as the newest member of the service club.
