Rotary International President-elect Stephanie Urchick revealed the 2024-2025 presidential theme, The Magic of Rotary, at International Assembly.
"We are not going to end polio or bring peace to the world by waving a wand. It's up to you. You create the magic with every project completed, every dollar donated, and every new member."
The Rotary Club of Austin did a Blood drive at their meeting today. One of our new members, John Barclay was the chair and signed up 20 members for the drive. We plan to do another one in the Spring since We Are Blood makes this project very easy and blood is greatly needed after the holidays. Thanks Rotary!
On Thursday, 21 December, Rotary Club of Flatonia collected food items and donated two Christmas baskets. Each donation was a laundry basket plus 3 bags of food for Christmas and beyond.
Rotary Club of Austin-Southwest sponsors a booth the first Saturday of the month at SFC Farmers Market, Sunset Valley, to collect non-recyclable Styrofoam from the community. Club members take to Austin Rese/Recycle Center for reuse making insulation & other products. To date, 30 huge contractor bags collected! Supporting Rotary International goal of protecting the environment.
Wednesday January 10th was a special day for the Shiner Rotary Club. Shiner Rotary honored a man who has been the cornerstone of the club for over 50 years. Bill Bradfield has dedicated much of his life to Rotary and to serving not only the community he lives in but people around the world.
May I ask you a strange question? How many maroon trucks did you see on your way to your Rotary meeting last week? My guess is that you saw many maroon trucks, but they did not stand out to you because you were not looking for them.

For the past forty-three years, Waco Rotary has honored students who excel in service in their schools and communities with a luncheon. Twenty-two Central Texas schools have an opportunity each year to nominate students for their Youth Citizenship Awards.
Wednesday, January 17th, the McGregor Rotary Club honored Central Texas first responders with a luncheon at The Exchange in McGregor. Responders from McGregor and Waco Police Departments as well as those from the McLennan County Sheriff's Department were present to enjoy a meal compliments of the club.
Lake Brazos Rotary Club in Waco gave away two bikes at each of four elementary schools in Waco in December. Students are excited to compete for the bikes, one for a boy and one for a girl at each school.
Waco Sunrise Rotary Club's Little Lending Library received a boost from a local businessman who donated more than eighty cases of books in November. Many of these books were used to fill the library, while the rest were sold to local second-hand book stores with all monies used to purchase age-appropriate books for the library
The Bosque County/Clifton Rotary Club participates every year in the Neighborhood Clifton clean-up day. Rotarians come laden with tools, trash bags, and willing hearts to help neighbors with yard clean-up, trash and limb removal, and light yard work.
The Rotary Club of Austin held their Public Service Awards event on Tuesday. The club recognized Sgt. Marc Taub for his outstanding 27 years with Travis County Sheriff’s department and for being part of the Special OPs department.
Every year the Burnet Rotary Club has a fundraiser that benefits the Hill Country Foundation. The Foundation was started many years ago, and their goal is to provide every Senior from Burnet High School who is going on to further their education a scholarship.
PFC Jared Guzman and his wife Jomayra and baby Celine had a fun, free R&R in Austin this weekend thanks to the Holiday Inn North Central and the Killeen Rotary and the Rotary Club of Austin. The Killeen club arranged a rent car from Killeen Toyota and gave them gas money.
