In professions where there is a constant need to keep existing customers and to add new customers, the generation of new LEADS is a critical factor in finding new customers.

Wouldn’t it be great if new LEADS just showed up at your business ready to purchase your product? Did you know that Rotary has a LEADS process as well? The LEADS process in Rotary begins when a prospective Rotarian visits the Rotary International website and begins to search for a Club in a city. The protective Rotarian can choose what city, what day, and what time a Club meets. Once this selection is made, the LEADS process begins. A message is sent from Rotary International to the District Governor, District Membership Chairperson, and Area Governor for the Club the LEAD has chosen. The District Membership Chairperson forwards the LEAD to the Area Governor, to the President of the Club, and the Club Membership Chairperson. Club Presidents have the responsibility of making sure the LEAD is contacted and of updating the District Chairperson on what has happened with the LEAD. Has the LEAD been contacted? Has the LEAD attended a Club meeting? Has the LEAD joined the Club?

Just as businesses must track and follow-up on LEADS, Rotary Clubs must do the same. Clubs need a systemic plan to contact and follow-up on LEADS. It is also important to point out that the District Membership Chairperson does not decide where LEADS go. The protective Rotarian does that when they make their initial choices.
