Rotary Club of Killeen Heights and its Satellite Club are providing humanitarian aid to their local community amidst the coronavirus.  The Clubs volunteer biweekly with the Killeen Food Care Center, a local food bank.
Within one month of the pandemic, the Center’s demand increased by thirty percent (30%).  Due to safety precautions, the Center closed its pantry’s doors. However, patrons are permitted to pick-up pre-filled grocery bags of unperishable foods. Upon notice of the Center’s need, the local Rotarians sprang into action by filling bags with food and restocking the food pantry in preparation of the next group of volunteers.  As an essential service, the Food Care Center disperses over 150 bags each day of operation. The Clubs have committed to volunteer for the extent of the COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place Order.  Once again, Rotarians prove to be committed to “Service Above Self.”
