Flatonia Rotary members are taking action to raise awareness, funds, and support to end polio, a vaccine-preventable disease that still threatens children in parts of the world today.
With polio nearly eradicated, Rotary and its partners must sustain this progress and continue to reach every child with the polio vaccine. Without full funding and political commitment, this paralyzing disease could return to polio-free countries, putting children everywhere at risk. The Rotary Club of Flatonia members were ambassadors for the “End Polio Now” campaign.  To help the fight against polio, a fundraiser, Pints For Polio, was held in downtown Flatonia, on Saturday, 12 March 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  The Rotary Club of Flatonia hosted a Pints For Polio Pub Walk Fundraiser at Wine Haus, Henry K’s, and Red Vault Bistro in Downtown Flatonia, Texas.  Pre-sale tickets were $25, and $30 at the door, included a pint glass, 3 drink tickets and a chance to win prizes.  The event was sold out and was a great evening of community fellowship, raising funds for “End Polio Now”, and being a part of history. All proceeds from the ticket sales were given to Rotary’s Polio Plus and were matched 2:1 thanks to the generous support of the Gates Foundation.  Over $1400 was raised this year and over $4000 in the previous Pints For Polio fundraisers, which totaled over $16,200 to support global polio eradication efforts.
