Our Rotary Club of Bastrop County will be involved in events on July 4th and Labor Day events which have several purposes including raising the visibility/awareness and illustrating the relevance of our Rotary Club as well as Rotary in our community.
Additional purposes include raising funds (mainly for local charitable organizations and projects) as part of “Service Above Self”, fun, and membership which are important to our organization.  “Visibility” and “relevance” are both challenges and opportunities for Rotary.  Our Club has done projects and events but these two events will be a first for our Club.  Involvement of other Rotary Clubs is invited.

Our Club will have a 10’x10’ “local organization” booth at the Bastrop Patriotic Festival https://business.bastropchamber.com/events/details/30th-annual-patriotic-festival-32455 on July 3 at Fisherman’s Park in Bastrop TX.  Our Club will have flyers, banners, promotional items, and Club representatives with computer/display) to provide information to event attendees on our Club and Rotary.  We will also provide information and invite involvement in the “Lost Pines BBQ Showdown” event.

The “Lost Pines BBQ Showdown” event on Sept 3-4 will included a national level sanctioned BBQ competition, fundraising (including virtual and Hybrid live auctions, good live dance, exhibits, booths, and activities for people of all ages (including a unique “ZooFari”).  This will be at the 27 acre Mayfest Park (with Show Barn and Rodeo Arena) at 25 American Legion Drive, Bastrop,78602.  We plan this to be an annual event with significant publicity.  Participation of other Rotary Clubs (and businesses, etc.) is invited.  One form of participation could be help during the event which will require many volunteers (ideally wearing Rotary shirts) for many tasks.  Another form of participation is donations and purchases for the silent and hybrid live fundraising auctions on Sept 4 and Sponsorships.   Our Club web site www.BastropRotary.com has information including flyers (general event information, BBQ teams, and donors) and invitations for support from donors and sponsors for this significant event.  Donors and sponsors will receive benefits including publicity.  We are optimistic that these events will be beneficial to our Rotary Club but collaboration with other Rotary Clubs is invited.
