Every year Flatonia’s E. A. Arnim Museum has an annual fundraiser, which includes a stew supper, silent auction, and a community original play, written and directed by Mark Eversole.
On Saturday, 12 November, the Flatonia Rotary Club contributed to the fundraiser by donating a wine basket to the silent auction, assisting Judy Pate, the Museum Director and also a Rotarian, to set up, clean up, and to act in the play.

The play, called “Money, Greed, and Bullfrogs”, set in the 1915-1916 time frame, is always based on a fun, true fact of Flatonia History, with humor, chaos, singing, dancing, and crying stirred into a little fact of truth. This is year it was about an “oil boom” in Flatonia that actually fizzled at the time. It was delightful, humorous, and a special way for Rotarians to be involved in the Community of Flatonia.

The Flatonia Rotarian cast members, who were invited to join the Barn Door Players this year (a total of 12 actors), included Terry Ehler, Tammy Collins, Harry Siter, Judy Pate, Bernie Satterwhite, and Gerald Freytag. The President of the Flatonia Rotary Club, Martin Cherry, accompanied the scenes with live music and sound effects on his keyboard. With over 200 in atttendance, the evening proved to be a success and a fun-filled evening, especially for Flatonia Rotarians.
