As we continue to move through this COVID-19 pandemic, our Rotary Club of Killeen Heights continues to make great contributions to our community through various Rotary service projects and initiatives.
A small group of past Rotary Club volunteers that contributed to completing the 2019-2020 District Assistance Program (DAP) Grant for Families in Crisis during the months of February to March participated in a close out ceremony at the Families in Crisis Center located at 1305 E Rancier Avenue, Killeen.  The Families in Crisis is a 501c3 non-profit organization that houses, supports, empowers people experiencing family violence, sexual violence, and homelessness.

The objective of the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights DAP Grant project was to renovate the kitchen and dining area as it has succumbed to years of neglect, wear and tear as it served the community.  The renovated facility will contribute to families experiencing safety and comfort during their stay.  The Rotary Club of Killeen Heights had 21 Rotarians participating in this great project with nearly 250 volunteer hours.  The end result of this project included removing the kitchen items from all shelves and cabinets; removing of kitchen and dining area ceiling tiles; installing new ceiling tiles; installing new flooring; removing the kitchen and dining area cabinets and shelves; painting and staining of all cabinets and shelves; assisting with the installation of the new appliances, countertops and backsplash; and installation of cabinet knobs.

To our Rotary Club volunteers, thank you so much.  Each of us as Rotarians has an opportunity to make a positive difference in our community.  I ask each of you to find your niche in Rotary that supports the essence of our Rotary Motto “Service Above Self” and when fulfilled our Service is embraced with love, kindness, humility and hope at all times.

My sincere blessings are with all of you so please stay safe, calm, strong, and healthy.  Thank you again for your fantastic service – you are the best!
