Bastrop Rotary provided beds for 18 more area kids on Saturday, Sept. 26. Four crews of some 15 Rotarians and friends covered homes from all over Bastrop County, constructing beds for kids who had no bed of their own. Bed linens, pillows, and a Rotary blanket completed the new beds. Rotary Club of the Austin University Area donated funds ($2,000) for the linens, and Club President, Stephen Niemeyer, came out to Bastrop to help with the deliveries & setups.

This is the fifth bed delivery Bastrop Rotary has engineered in the last two years, and the Club has provided new beds to 86 kids since it began its partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace in March 2025. Another bed delivery is scheduled for Oct. 3, which will bring total beds the Bastrop Club has given away to more than 100.

To make this project a success, Bastrop Rotary has partnered with other Austin Clubs, area churches & Bastrop County Cares (https://www.bastropcares.org/) in its efforts to manufacture bed parts, purchase the bed frames, secure linens, and round up workers. The Club envisions a day when no Bastrop County child has to sleep on the floor for lack of their own bed.
