Message From The District Governor
To Rotarians of District 5870 Central Texas,
Foundation:
February was Foundation month and we celebrated it in style. We held the Foundation Gala at the Sheraton Hotel in Austin on the 4th. There were over 380 that attended. The speaker was Paul Netzel, (the incoming RI Foundation Chair) who did a great job of explaining all the good works the TRF has completed over the past 100 years. There was a proclamation read from Honorable State Representative Paul Workman and signed by the Speaker if the Texas House, Joe Strauss. There was both a silent auction and a live auction. Our district members have now contributed over $358,000 ytd!!!! That leads both zones again. Were still #1
For first timer PHF’s, if you have not already contributed or taken advantage of the Jerry Johnson trust matching funds, please consider doing so as we are going for 100% district participation. Meaning every member in every club has contributed a least $25! Never been done before, so let’s make that happen!
Public Relations:
We are now promoting “Women in Rotary” on March 8th, so please send your stories and photos to Pam Blankanzee soon.
Keep posting your pictures of your club activities and projects to your club Facebook pages as well as to the districts #1districtstrong.
Membership:
Monique is working very hard to increase your club’s membership and as the district is concerned, we are up to 27 new members net.
Please continue you ask your friends & neighbors to come with you to a project or meeting to peek their interest in Rotary!
Last, there is still time for your club to participate in Sharon’s literacy / education project to your local or school libraries. The deadline for submitting your club’s contributions is March 31st.
Remember, if your club supports her project with a minimum contribution of $100, the Tocker Foundation will match up to $1,000 to the public or school library in your local community. Pretty good deal!!
Last, don’t forget to register this month for the District Conference May 18 -21, 2017 at the Omni Hotel in Corpus Christi. It will be fun for you, your kids and grandkids!!!!!
